A WOMAN has taken to TikTok to reveal what happened when she tried the copper hair trend on her long, blonde locks.

Katie Davies, known online as @bykatielouise0, regularly shares life updates with her 5,700 followers.

In a new reel, the content creator shared how her attempt to temporarily dye her hair auburn resulted in fiery orange locks and purple roots.

Alongside a picture of her hair before, she said: “I’m going to take you on a journey of how I ruined my hair.

“This is where we started. She’s blonde, she’s been getting balayage for years. Good hairdresser, shout out to you, Callum. It’s all going well.

“I get the urge to go copper. I think, ‘right, let’s do it. We’ll only do a temporary, it’s fine. It’ll wash out, no worries’.

“Off I trot, I pick up Proper Copper, Bleach London. First mistake, I only get two bottles.

“I have a lot of hair. It is also very thick.

“We’re getting through it, we’re putting it on, it’s running a little bit low but it’s fine. We’ll make it work.”

Sharing a photo of her hair covered in the orange dye, she said: “Here we are, Proper Copper applied. It’s promising at this point.

“I didn’t actually take a picture of when I washed it off because it wasn’t great.

“It wasn’t the worst, it was quite orange instead of copper, but like light orange, and my roots, which if you remember from the last picture were my natural root colour from the balayage, were just the same colour as they were, didn’t take at all.

“I thought, ‘right, I’m just going to make this better’. I got to the shop the next day, I go to pick up more Proper Copper, it’s sold out. That should have been my first sign.

“I also saw on TikTok people mixing it with Merlot.

“I pick up Tangerine Dream. I think, ‘how different can it be?’

“I mix this in full. Bro, it be different. Please look how it turned out.”

Later on, Katie reveals what her hair looked like after dying it for the second time.

While the ends of her hair were bright orange, her roots still appeared to be her natural, mousy brown colour.

She continued: “Your eyes are not deceiving you. If you just take a look up here, towards the root, you may see that not a single piece of pigment took to that root.

“At this point I’m embarrassed, I’m ashamed, I think ‘I can’t go to work like this’.

“So I think, ‘right, I’m going to turn into a hairdresser’. I pick up a gloss for my roots.

“I gloss over the roots. To the left, you can see, and you’re thinking, ‘yeah, it’s not actually that bad to be fair’.

“But you can still really see the roots so I thought, ‘you know what? I’ll get a darker one and put it over my roots’.”

Alongside another selfie, she adds: “Well, here is the darker one. Now you can’t tell from this picture, but the roots themselves went purple. Like dark purple.

“I’ve got fiery red ends and purple roots.”

Below the video, she revealed she’s tried to strip her hair and washed it five times, yet the colour is still pretty vibrant.

Katie’s at-home fail attracted plenty of attention online, gaining more than 275 likes and 13,000 views.

In the comments, the content creator’s followers shared their reactions, with one writing: “Omfg bleach London ain’t temporary. Learnt my lesson when I went blue and it turned green hahahaha.”
