Why is my belly button fluff always coloured blue ? Even when I haven't had blue clothing on ?
Paul Chapman, Copenhagen, Denmark
- it is blue as that is the natural colour of the cotton which forms your clothing. the sweat caught in your belly-button helps the blue diffuse from the cotton into the fluff, giving the familiar sight.

- Also, you may notice that tumble dryer fluff is mainly blue too. I was once told that this is because it's largely composed of human skin. Hmmm.
Carla, Crewe, UK
- Fungal infections are pretty common in the folds of human skin. Maybe your navel is infested with the same mould that produces stilton cheese.

Liz, Reading, UK
- If you intend to visit a site dedicated to naval fluff, I think the colour of your fluff is the least of your problems.
Jamie Barking, Jersey
- Simply... The sky is blue. There are more particles of blue in the atmosphere which makes any colour of fluff appear blue to the eye.
